Second Chance

from Leuty Station (album) by Heather Hill

/

about

"Second Chance" on Heather Hill's newly released album "Leuty Station", was written by Heather Hill and Chris Assaad, and was produced by Orville Heyn. The players include: Heather Hill on vocals and piano, Russ Boswell on bass, Eddie Paton on guitars, Paul DeLong on drums and concert drum, and Arturo Avalos on percussion.

This song describes the combined journeys of its two writers: Heather Hill and Chris Assaad. Both had unfulfilling journeys outside of music and both experienced health problems. Fortunately they both took great risks, changed their lives, and pursued what they loved: music. Second Chance is about taking the road less travelled and taking the time to listen to the voice within.

This song has an easiness akin to Jack Johnson’s music with hints of Brian Eno in the guitar work.

lyrics

Second Chance
Heather Hill and Chris Assaad

I was all dressed in black
Hiding in the back
Couldn’t hear the music play
But I didn’t say

I was falling behind
While others’ stars aligned
Something was wrong
But I carried on because

You fail, you fall, you rise again
You fail, you fall, you rise again
Take a second
Take a second chance

I found a helping hand
Pulled me from the quicksand
As I listened I knew
My wish had come true

With eyes opened wide
Colours came alive
As I started to hear
I broke through my fear

You fail, you fall, you rise again
You fail, you fall, you rise again
Take a second
Take a second
Take a second

Be who you are
Hear a voice that’s speaking quietly

You fail, you fall, you rise again
You fail, you fall, you rise again
You fail, you fall, you rise again
Take a second
Take a second
Chance
